Why I Made this Costume: Someone gave me a bunch of red fabric, and I had to find something to make with it.

How I Made this Costume: I hated making this costume. It was the first costume that I ever made all by myself that I used no pattern with. I kept sewing trim on the wrong areas and making other stupid mistakes. I was SO happy when this stupid thing was done. I didn't even have that much fun wearing it. But anyway...I wanted to make a little less revealing Mai. So I didn't make the top as low-cut, and I made the big bow snap on the sides so it could partially cover me. Kind of defeats the whole point of cosplaying Mai, but whatever...Her costume changes slightly in each KOF, so I just drew a little from each of those designs to make this one. The balls on the "tails" were styrafoam balls that I covered in plaster-of-paris strips and painted.

My Thoughts on this Costume: I didn't like it much, simply because it was so annoying to make! I only wore it one day ever and sold it.
